No, you are not required to pay a deposit or upfront cash to hold a reservation. After the boat owner sends an offer, you can accept it to confirm your booking. Once accepted, you will be charged the full amount of the booking, and both parties will receive a confirmation email.
What happens when I accept an offer?
When you accept an offer:
- Your credit card will be charged the full amount of the booking.
- Partial payments or multiple credit cards cannot be used for a booking.
- Payment is held securely and only released to the boat owner after the trip's successful completion.
What is the service fee?
We charge a service fee to support secure payment processing, fraud prevention, identity verification, and 24/7 customer support.
- Service Fee Rates: 10% for USD transactions and 16% for other currencies.
- Non-Refundable: The service fee is non-refundable except under specific extenuating circumstances.
How and when do I get charged for my booking?
- Your credit card will be charged the full booking amount (rental price + service fee) upon offer acceptance.
- A security allowance, if applicable, is not charged at booking but may be activated post-rental if a valid claim is submitted.
Can I modify my booking after confirmation?
Yes, modifications can be requested by contacting the boat owner through the platform. The ability to modify the booking depends on the owner’s policies and availability. Additional charges may apply for changes.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellation policies vary by boat owner and will be outlined in the booking offer.
- Flexible: Full refund if canceled within the specified timeframe.
- Moderate/Strict: Refunds may be limited or unavailable for cancellations closer to the booking date.
Who is Responsible for Safety During an EZ Boat Trip?
EZ Boat does not take responsibility for renters or their guests while on the water. It is the sole responsibility of the boat operator to ensure the safety of renters and comply with all local laws and regulations, as outlined in our terms of service.
Can I communicate directly with the boat owner?
Yes, our platform provides a secure messaging system that allows you to communicate with the boat owner before and after booking. Avoid sharing personal contact information to ensure secure interactions.
How do I tip my captain?
Tipping is discretionary, and it is customary to tip 10%-20% for boat charters.
- Tips can be given directly in cash or via the platform's payment processing tool.
What type of payment methods are accepted?
We accept the following payment methods:
- Credit Cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Union Pay, JCB, Diners Club.
- Digital Wallets: Apple Pay, Google Pay.
Note: Prepaid credit cards are not accepted.

- Never pay outside the platform.
- Report any requests for off-platform payments to customer support immediately.
What is a security allowance, and how is it used?
The security allowance protects boat owners against additional costs (e.g., minor damage or cleaning fees).
- Before Booking: The amount will be displayed in the pricing section.
- Activation: The allowance is only charged if the boat owner submits a valid claim within 48 hours after the trip.
- Notification: You will be informed via email if a claim is opened.
- Resolve claims directly with the owner whenever possible.
- If unresolved, we will assess evidence and determine whether to issue a payout to the owner or a refund to your card.
What happens if the boat owner cancels my booking?
If the boat owner cancels your booking, you will receive a full refund, including the service fee. You can then choose to book another boat or request further assistance from customer support.
Are pets allowed on board?
Pet policies vary by boat owner. Check the listing details or contact the owner through the platform to confirm if pets are allowed on board.
What safety measures are in place for renters?
Safety is a top priority. All boat owners must comply with local safety regulations, including providing life jackets and safety equipment. Before your trip, ensure the boat meets your safety expectations.

Does EZ Boat Booking Include Insurance?
No, EZ Boat bookings do not automatically include insurance for you or your passengers. We recommend confirming with the boat owner to ensure they have the appropriate insurance coverage for your trip. In some cases, the owner may offer insurance for a nominal fee.
